ProCar Rally Smoothbacks in '67 Camaro

I know this has been done before, but I figured one more thread can't hurt. I ordered the ProCar Rally Smoothback seats because I think the stitching still looks true to the period, but I wanted the additional support from the side bolsters. All this info is in my build thread, but I thought it might be useful for someone else considering these seats.

I have read several threads that complained that the seats sit too high, and at 6'0"+ I was a little worried. So rather than ordering the mounting brackets from ProCar, I contacted Wedge Engineering out of California and had them fabricate some new brackets. If you call them, ask for Wendell. They also supplied the sliders for the seats and said the combo would sit a couple inches lower than if I used the ProCar setup.

Here are the Wedge Engineering brackets and sliders:

Here are the ProCar sliders on the left and Wedge on the right:

Seats are installed and working great. I left the headrests off in this photo:

I took some before and after measurements of the seats just to see if they sat any higher than the stock seats. I was surprised to see that with the new Wedge Engineering brackets, the new seats actually sit lower than stock.

Floor to stock seat bottom height:

And here's a pic of the new seats with the headrests on:

Thanks for the picture and info. Im looking into theses same seats for my '69.
Do you know where the procar seat brackets put the seat height in relation to a stock seat?
      Thanks

I know a lot of people complained that their head was too close to the headliner with the ProCar brackets. With the Wedge brackets the front of the seats sit about 1 1/2" lower than stock, but I don't feel like I'm riding any lower. The guys at Wedge Engineering said their brackets would sit a few inches lower than the ProCar brackets, so I'm guessing the ProCar brackets would put you 1-2" above stock?

Yes you must request the 'Flat' brackets from them. That is the company that supplies the brackets for the seats I sell.

Those Scat seats are a great all around seat, easy drive many hours in and enough support to get a little autocross in also, Wedge brackets are good, well made also and best of all they look great and dont break the bank

The brackets and sliders together were $320. $85 per bracket and $75 per slider.

      Hi mate

I called Wedge today and they have the parts for my car as well so they will sit 1.25 inches lower, but they said you can not move the seat up and down using there brackets is this true ?

Also with the sliders does the seats move back more than stock ?

I answered Robbie's question in a PM, but just to keep the info out there for the public...

The brackets do not allow you to adjust the height of the seat. The goal with these custom brackets is to get the seat to sit lower. If it's too low, you could add a spacer of some kind. But the sliders did allow me to sit further back than stock. Before I used to have the seat all the way back for leg room, now with the new seats/sliders I have plenty of leg room and don't have the seats as far back as the sliders would allow (i.e. they can slide back further than I need).

      Hi Gentlemen,

I wanted to update you ... I got the pro car seats, along with the Wedge brackets and sliders, the seats are currently at shop getting re covered with just the 66 insert. I will provide pictures on Friday. I was going to put 98-02 trans am seats in but after sitting in both, these are amazing ... I am 6.1 205 pounds and not close to sitting on the bolsters, you guys will love the seats for the price ...

67 Rally - provided excellent information will update Friday

66 GTO ProCar Seats completed ....

Seats are completed I do believe they came out quite nice.

Original one compared to the new Procar one as well side by side are the red ones out of a 99 trans am, which are significantly smaller. mine don't have the brackets and sliders on as yet that is why they are lower.

True test will be in car .....

Maybe I missed it in the thread, where is contact info for wedge? I got elite Lumbar for my 69 and they sit too tall with my cage (head too close to the bar). I like the seat and would like to use them as they fit the "style" i want but the height will be an issue.

If I can get brackets that will mount the seat lower, I may just have my solution!

      Thanks,
      William

I believe it's the sliders that they provide that make the seat sit 1.25 inches lower but you need there brackets to make the sliders work good luck
