Powder coating convertible frame rails?
Any reason why this would be a bad idea over painting? I'm trying to think if there would be any plastic pieces that might get melted in the oven?

I powder coated the top frame on my 56 bel air. I disassembled the frame prior to powder coating to protect the hardware and pivot points. Not sure what type of car you are working on, but a search will probably find any necessary replacement hardware that my be needed. The tack strip will also have to be replaced. I was very happy with the clean results though. Also, if you do go this route, be sure to take pictures of the frame before taking it apart to help in reassembly. I found out the hard way that it's actually a fairly complicated assembly when in pieces.

I am considering powder coating my frame for my 66 GTO. I have it pulled apart and there are some rivot joints that simply do not come apart. Most are steel joints with thrust washers. Two of the rivot joints have nylon bushings. Will the baking hurt these bushings?
