Can't wait to see you guys at BIR and Road America!

Tell Carl for me he'll like Brainerd Intl. but he'll "Love" Road America!

Hopefully you'll get the Full road course at BIR with the long front straight into the banked turn one.

      Day 3 - Hallett, OK - 10:30 AM

The good news - not a tire...

The bad news - the drivers front wheel is leaking...

The good news - Hallett (a) has a Motorsports garage that understands the problem and (b) they have a chance of fixing it.

The bad news - going out on track when you know you have a tire going down really messes with your head... I had a lousy session and was second guessing every sound, bump and apex. We're going to take a hit this morning but hopefully we can overcome this. Yech...

Day 2. 7:50pm somewhere in Kansas.

I live just outside tulsa. Wish I knew about it earlier. My car isn't ready but it still sounds like a ton of fun. Post pics of the event if you don't mind. I used to race motorcycles out there but I have never been to a car race there.

Team OLC getting ready at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit.

James awaiting his turn at Hallett. The officials have moved us up in the groupings since we have been running consistently fast.

Pitted next to us are two Vipers, three GTR's, and a Panamera Turbo.

      Cool pics. Looks like fun.

I would like to know how the trailer ball is attached on the OLC rear bumper.
      Some times I'm fast sometimes I'm half-fast

That Plymouth is a local upstate SC guy (Glenn Dodd) who owns the Carolina Rod Shop. He's been running the One Lap for many years. It has Corvette running gear w/ an LS1.

      Day 3 - Hallett, OK - 1200 PM

      Call it a mini-update...

Drivers front wheel is being repaired as we speak - it was leaking in multiple spots so we had to tear it down, clean it, re-seal it and we're waiting for the silicone to cure - at least a bit - before putting the tire back on and hitting the track for our afternoon session. As expected my times this morning we're pretty poor - 44th I think - and 2nd in class, 2 seconds a lap behind Damon in the 2nd gen Camaro. It's hard to drive even at 7/10ths when your fixated on an issue like this. At this point we're either going to be OK or we're not - only time will tell. We should know more in a couple of hours...

      Ugh..

One hour to my run time and Team OLC is sitting at a picnic table waiting
for the tire repair shop to reseal the driver-front wheel. It was leaking
through a bunch of the bolts/nuts and was loosing 5psi every 20 min.

This was all discovered this morning when we arrived at the track. We could
not find the leak since it was on the inside fastener connection. There was
no time for repairs this morning before the first run. It brings back
memories of last November, on a cold night in Pahrump.....

Unfortunately not knowing what the problem is kills driver confidence.
James did not know if the rim was broken, if the was a tire problem, etc.
If a tire came apart and wrecked the rim we are out of the game for the
rest of the event as we have no spare rims. James took the right approach
and practiced discretion instead of valor, but still finished 2nd in the
Vintage American class. Now that we know what the problem is it is now my
job to get us back in the game for the afternoon session.

We'll hope the silicone will hold up with so little set time. It's going to
be a long night stopping every hour to check something that is so
frustratingly simple. If it does not hold up we'll try a can of sealant,
but it's really meant for tire leaks where the sealant gets flung outward.
Time will tell, but time is our enemy today since we have a 10-hour, 600+
      mile transit tonight to Denver.

More to come after this afternoons session.

Definite downside to not running matching tires on all four corners and directional tires.

      Day 3 - Colorado Bound!!!

Carl did great, the wheel seems to hold air and we're on the road to Deer Valley Colorado. The OLC looked fast this afternoon with Carl... Well... Maybe we'll let Carl tell the story in his own words once he comes down...

We'll check on the tire in an hour or so and in the mean time try to start chewing up some of the 700+ miles we have ahead of us tonight...

Would it matter? OLoA doesn't allow you to run a 5th tire for spares right? Or would you bring a spare rim without tire?

No spare wheel and I've come to learn that this sealing loss thing can happen quite suddenly and without warning. What Carl's referring to on a cold November night was with my Camaro and four wheels. Almost all of the hardware had loosened and road vibration took care of the rest. Got to Pahrump with about ten psi in one of the fronts ...

Carl and Dave got all four wheels off and individually tightened each bolt. As of now and six months later, still fine and haven't resealed the wheels yet. I will ... someday.

Good luck, guys. Great driving, too. Watching from afar ...
