Dome and console light get to hot and melt?

Whenever I have my door open for more then a few minutes, my dome light was starting to get so hot it would melt the plastic.
I pulled the bulb for now. And then just yesterday, the console light got so hot it started to burn/melt the plastic underneath the bulb. I cant image they came this way from the factory?

      Thanks, Erik

the bulbs that came in the cars were less efficient there for duller and not as hot, switch to LED's

I'm thinking you've got a wiring issue somewhere. The lights should not be melting.

I worked for many years as a camaro restorer and even my car that has a brand new American autowire upgraded wire harness, the dome light still softens, and wrinkles the lens when the door stays open for extended periods of time(15-30 min) the cheap repo lens cant handle it and the system wasn't designed to stay illuminated that long
