      Speedtech's Chicane 9" Floater

Here is all the info on the Chicane 9" Floater.
Currently it is only available with the Speedtech Torque Arm Suspension.

Speed Tech Performance Is Pleased To Announce The Release Of Our New Chicane 9” Floater Complete Rear End Assembly
This rear end assembly is the BEST rear end you could want in your Pro Touring car. There really is no equal, and here is why:
The Speed Tech Chicane 9” Floater system uses OEM Technology to solve the common problem with performance driving and traditional live axle flange / bearing setups. The standard 9” flanged axles employ a single axle bearing that must support the weight of the vehicle. When cornering the flanged axle is levered by lateral forces. Axle deflection, “bowing” or “bending” occurs as lateral forces rise with cornering speeds.
The result is what some call brake pad knock back. This causes the rotor to effectively push the pads into the pistons which retract into the caliper. This then causes a space between the rotor and pads. The result is a brake pedal that will fail to apply pressure without pumping up the calipers. Another result on single axle bearings (even tapered units) found on traditional flanged axles is dramatically decreased bearing life. As bearing wear increases so do knock back and handling concerns.
Speed Tech has taken a new approach to this problem borrowing from the ZR1 Corvette. The ZR1 Corvette is truly a supercar and GM has spent Millions developing the special parts that are required over and above even the formidable Z06 Corvette.
Speed Tech’s design eliminates the conventional single bearing flanged axle and thus eliminates deflection and brake pad knock back. The design incorporates floating axle technology that is mandatory in many forms of racing. At the same time packaging this technology for ease of installation and serviceability for ultra-high performance cars used both on the track and the street.
The Speed Tech Chicane 9” Floater incorporates the Corvette ZR1 rear drive hub and factory park brake kit along with a NASCAR quality 9” housing with floating axles. The housing end is precision CNC machined from Billet steel to ensure the highest strength possible. The ZR1 drive hub uses a forged housing and dual bearing packs with 31 splines. This is a fully sealed unit that eliminates the possibility of any contamination getting inside, it also incorporates the ZR1 Active wheel speed sensor. This feature allows the addition of Anti-Lock Brakes and Traction Control. Another benefit is that there is no regular maintenance required like all other floater assemblies that require bearing cleaning and preload adjustment. This is one of the only Floater assemblies on the market that incorporates a parking brake which is mandatory for LEGAL street operation.
Speed Tech has contracted one of the most sought after housing manufactures in the industry Speedway Engineering. Speedway builds 75% of the housings that are used by the biggest teams in NASCAR Sprint Cup Racing today. This is a no compromise 9” housing. Fully straightened and surface plate welded to ensure perfect spline alignment and housing straightness. Included fill and drain ports, ports for circulating gear oil through a cooler are optional. Billet CNC machined 3rd member mounting flange with ARP studs.
      Features:
      • ZR1 Sealed Racing Hub

WE have not made that call yet. So it would be unfair to give you an answer one way or the other. it will depend on the feedback we get. This part is designed to Improve and set apart the Speedtech Torque arm and Track Time Package, therefore it is only available in the package or to existing customers as an upgrade.

it may be in the future, we do have a G body test car so to be able to make trailing arm bracketd to fit the 9" wouldn't be a huge deal it will all depend on demand, Get all your G body buddies together and we will talk
