To coat or not to coat?

What's everybodies opinion on coating the inside of your gas tank.
Mine has no rust on the inside and looks brand new.
What do you think. Coat it or don't?
I have it out so now is the time to coat it if I'm going to.

Don't....a bad coating job is way worse than a little rust. Leave it alone it will be fine.

I'll be interested in everyone's response here - as I'm no expert - but fabricated tanks are cleaned and coated all the time in the custom motorcycle world. Personally, I'd do it unless someone posts up a good reason not to.

I recommend a product called "Kreem" it is designed specifically for gas tank lining. It works well in both clean tanks and rusty tanks. Kreem is a complete system starting with a cleaner then etching and finally coating. If you follow the instructions it is bullet proof and long lasting. I coated a gas tank 30 years ago with Kreem and it is still in great shape.

A little bit of air pressure and soapy water will tel you if you have leaks. I have seen the coating come apart too many time to believe that anyone can do a good job of it. Cars or bikes, I have seen it fail......and its a mess.

If it looks brand new inside... I wouldn't mess with it.
