      Starting the search...

      Hey all-

I'm looking for leads to position openings in rod/ custom shops. I will graduate with an associates in Collision Repair, Street Rod Emphasis and be available end of April 2012 and I wanted to start getting the word out. Prior to going back to college I have over 20 years experience working in the automotive industry and playing with muscle cars and drag racing as a hobby. This includes performance engine building, auto trans rebuilding, suspension, and wiring. I can gas, Mig, and Tig weld. I also have a Bachelor's degree in car design and spent several years working in the design industry.

I can successfully perform most any task related to a car, but feel that design and fabrication is where my passion lies. In school I've been studying fabrication, body mods and body/paint work. My class project has been a pro-touring G-body station wagon which shows, and will show over then next semester, just a few of my skills. The build thread link is in my signature below, please take a moment to look. I'm passionate about the hot rodding industry and enjoy all genres from early customs to late model performance, but my favorite for the last few years is within the muscle car based Pro-touring arena.

      Past Work Experience:

      Automotive Related-
Tunex retail automotive repair facility- General store manager
Excel Autocraft muscle car restoration- Suspension specialist and final assembly tech
Kirkham's Upholstery- Installed seat covers on muscle cars and performed furniture repairs
Super Shops speed shop- Performance parts counter sales
Firestone tires and service- Tire sales and evening shift manager
Les Schwab tires and service- Suspension, brakes and alignment specialist
Pep Boys retail auto parts and service- Parts counter sales
20+ years building and drag racing muscle cars on the side

      Non Automotive related-
Let's Logo- Graphic design department manager

      Self Employment-
Street Rod Designs- Automotive based concept and marketing design, www.streetroddesigns.com

      Volunteer Work and hobbies-
I'm on the planning committee for one of the largest annual car shows in Utah and get involved with smaller cruise in type activities where I can. I have also participated in several car show and racing events. My last season of drag racing was in 2007 where I took 1st place champion in points for the season in the street tire class. I have also participated in amateur autocross and road course events and plan on getting heavily involved in SCCA solo and other pro-touring type events when my car is finished.

      Schooling-
2003- Bachelors degree in Industrial Design, Automotive Design emphasis, Brigham Young University
2012- Associates degree in Collision Repair, Street Rod Emphasis, Utah Valley University

Besides the Pro-Touring wagon school project, I also own a self built 74 street/strip Nova that runs mid 11.s on the 406 small block motor in DOT tire/ street legal class and an on-going 73 Nova resto-mod project.

I am married with kids, live in the Salt Lake City, UT area and would be very open to relocating out of state.

If you own/run a shop or know of someone looking to hire around May/ June 2012 please contact me via PM, email- [email protected], or by phone at 801-471-3226 and I will provide a formal resume and answer any questions about myself and my skills. My family and I would appreciate any leads!

      Thanks everyone!!!
