That makes sense. I have been looking at racing seats for the front as well. I am not too worried about the rear seat at the moment. I just hate the saddle brown interior I have though.

I was fortunate enough to have black interior. My door panels were rough and so was the the carpet. My Recaro's are used and being recovered along with my door panels by the shop that did my friends chevelle. I bought new carpet from ACC and that will be installed once i get the studs for my seat tracks welded in.
If you don't want brown, you could change the color in phases.

That sounds like a plan. My carpet needs replacing and the headliner is raggedy. The vinyl seats actually aren't in bad shape and I guess the dash could be dyed. I am thinking grey interior.

My headliner is in decent shape, but I'll have it redone when I get the permanent rear seat in place. Thats when I'll do the package tray and windlace around the front and rear window.

Just switching gears a little to my seats. I finished up my Vintage Air, but I'm not ready to install my dash yet as there are a cpl more things in want to finish under there. I decided to move to getting my interior ready. I welded elevator bolts to my floor pan to use as studs for my Recaro seat brackets. My intention was to use my friends rear bench as a temporary setup until i could have my rear bucket setup installed. My intent was to use my friends old rear bench, but a '68 Chevelle rear seat is wider due to the armrest configuration. I ended up starting on my plan for the rear seats sooner than i expected. I also took the time to trim and install my rear carpet.

With some advice from by buddy that does interiors, I built this base for the new rear seat. Here is one of the rear seats as it will sit before my friend completes the upholstery. He will build filler between the seats and and both sides when he does the upholstery.

Here's the base installed with one seat is it will be when finished.

Btw its funny the boxes in the back say " sportliche Raeder" = sporty wheels in german ( i am german) they claim the EURO style but nobody in germany knows ESM or would be able to run them because of "certification laws" this wheels would be illegal in germany ahaha..
(its a stupid law wich makes only certain companies eligible to sell wheels in germany since this certificate **** is expensive)

Thanks... Trying to finish by my birthday in May. I'll be back at it today.

LOL...Those are for my little Jetta beater. If I were in Germany, those wouldn't be in my house. It would probably some BBS, Borbet or AZEV wheels.

That Jetta is a 16v, second one I've owned. My first car out of high school was an '84 MK1 GTI, then MK1 Jetta coupe. For some reason I keep gettin these cars...lol I'm going to refresh the motor in this one and tool around in it.

Nothing major to add, just finishing up detail work.

Finally put the car back on the ground after swapping out my eBay lowers to SPC. Adjusted the ride height to where i wanted to be. Trans crossmember is about 5.5" from the ground, from what I have read this enough clearance.

Purchased my insurance and plate as motivation to push me over the finish line in the coming months.

Thanks... Been following your Penny Pincher. Its motivation to see you being resourceful and keeping spending low.

I went with a regular plate because the historical ones have too many restrictions.

Love the Cutlass but that beater looks great, legit 16v GLI? I have built a few watercooled VW's in my past, always have had a soft spot for them.

Yep, real Calyso GLI. I've owned 2 MK1's and 3 MK2's over the years. Returned the car to euro clip, I never liked the GTI grill on the Jetta. Motor needs refreshed, but I have a 2.0 from a 92 Passat wtih 110k waiting to drop in. I just can't see taking the weekend to work on that until the Cutlass is done. I actually have had it up for sale in the past, may leave the driveway soon....

Looks like Photobucket's new policies have rendered this thread, and many others largely useless...
Do they really believe that anyone will pay $400 to allow their pictures to be seen? More likely we'll just find another host.
