65 Mustang Terminator build ,QUICKSILVER
My wife had won a 65 Mustang coupe in a local radio contest. It was a 6cyl car and needed alot of work. The car had been painted within a few years before we won it, but it was a diffently a cheap makeover. Heres a pic within a couple of years after she gave it to me. I installed the Torque thrust's and added a cowl hood after we installed the 351W.
We stripped the car down to the shell and bare metal. We ended up replacing both rear quarters, rear inner fenders, rear frame rails, rear valance, front floor pans, both doors, front fenders. I had the mustang II front installed with power rack to give the windsor some room.
After the front end conversion I decided to install a 4.6 from a cobra. Ended up purchasing the drivetrain from a wrecked 03 cobra and mocked everything up.
Heres some pics of the motor after removal from mockup. Stripped the motor down for paint and detailing.
I installed the hydroboost brakes from the cobra, and mounted the seats. Welded in the subframe connectors and bedlined the underside.
The car has been sprayed the last couple of months and enetered in a few different shows. Car drives, and runs great. I still like a few minor things but overall am very pleased how the car turned out. We had been working on the car for 8-9 years and I know we never finish, but its nice to be able to finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. LOL. Heres a few pics from some shows and the car being painted.
It was diffently a fun build and was my first major build. I made alot of good friends along the way and learned alot. I would like to do some type of custom rear suspension setup in the future. But Im going to drive and enjoy it for awhile before tackling the rear. Im new to this site, and theres alot of good looking cars built & in the process of being built here. Everyone keep up the good work, it finally pays off in the long run. Thanks
