Started trial fitting the aluminum radiator and recirculating tank.
Just when I think that I have stopped upgrading things something else comes along.
Now shopping for a dual fan and aluminum shroud setup.
Will definitly pay off in the end with reliablity and great looks though.

      Have settled on this setup.
Dual Spal fans with aluminum shroud.
Total cfm 3260. Ordered it today.
Also ordered the programmable wiring kit.
Includes all the relays, wiring, fuses, fan pigtails and sensors
      for the dual fan setup.
Also routed the engine wiring harness today.
Hope to get the rest of the a/c system mocked up tomorrow.
I want to take all the a/c fittings to the powdercoaters on monday.

Got the whole vintage air system mocked up today and discovered a few parts are missing.
I will call V/A directly on monday to get the missing parts.
Other than that all the lines are ready to go to the powdercoaters.
Also hooked up the Lokar speedo cable today.

Just got the new dual Spal fan setup in.
Hope to be in the garage tomorrow to test fit it.
      Should cool nicely.

Thanks, I can't wait to get them in.
Got the heat shrink radiator clamps today from McMaster-Carr.
Should help clean up the engine compartment.
I have seen them on other members projects and they look great and
from what I read they work great too.

Project is coming along nicely! I like the low-gloss paint look (as you mentioned) on the motor, frame, etc... got any photos of the exterior of the car as it sits now?

Thanks Sean, here are some pictures of the car before I started to tear it apart.
I have not put the front end back on yet. After I finish putting it back together I will start on the body. It's a california car and the body was in really good shape when I got it.
There are a few things I will do though, bodywork wise.
Just missing things like marker lights, locks, mirrors and it had the wrong blinkers in the front.
All of those parts are sitting in my basement waiting to go on.
Well, into the garage I go.

Finally, here are the fans and rad put together.
I had the cut the corners of the fan shroud and bend the sides out a little so there would be no gaps between the shroud and the radiator.
      Worth the effort, no gaps.
Now I just have to sand and polish out a few scratches that are on the rad.
Then time for final install. No more trial fits.

Which radiator did you end up going with? I have used Spal fans on all my projects and they work good. They seem to move more air than similar other brand setups.

I had bought a Champion rad several years ago when I started the project, just to start collecting parts.
I was under more of a budget then, than I am now so I hope it works out ok. I have read many good thing and a few bad things so we'll see.
I really like the finish though and the shoud is very nice too.
The Spal fans have a good rep so I'm sure they will work great.

Tried to mock up the complete V.A. system today and found more pieces missing.
So far I'm really disappointed with V.A. quality control. This will be the 3rd time I have to call them to get missing parts.
Time #1 They sent me the whole system but for the wrong car.
Time #2 They forgot to send me the control panel.
Time #3 They sent me doubles of some fitting and none of others.
Sorry about this post, but I just had to vent.
Spent half the day cursing V.A.
I will be calm when I call them Monday though.

Called VA and they talked me off the ledge, very helpful. Got all the missing parts shipped out on friday.
Hopefully next weekend all the right parts will be ready to finally put everything together.

Got into the garage for only about an hour today.
Just long enough to paint and install the condensor and dryer and the all the brackets.
Also replaced all the hardware with ss hardware.

Got the whole a/c system in and decided I did not like the VA Heater Control Valve
being in the engine compartment. So, out it came. AGAIN.
Decided to put the hcv under the dash and out of site.
Helps clean up the engine comp even more.

      Radiator cover got delivered today.
Big thanks to Keith at Custom Works Products.
Ordered a fiberglass rad cover, he did not have one instock so he sent me a carbonfiber one instead. Going to paint it anyways but he got it to me very quick. Thanks.
Although I'm having a tough time because the carbonfiber color goes perfect with the engine color.
      What do you guy's think?

Looks good! I say leave it bare CF. A little touch of the stuff is a really nice accent. Mixing fake and real or doing CF 'everything' is a no-no in my book.

This is the first time I have used the shrink wrap hose clamps.
I love the way they look. Real clean.
