      Wanna watch a satellie launch?

A good friend of mine is among the lead engineers on this payload launching today.

Space Based InfraRed System (SBIRS) satellite I’ve been working on for the past 10 years at Lockheed Martin is a go for launch and there are links below to view the rocket take off online. I’ll be in a mission center for the month of May supporting getting the satellite into orbit. The launch window opens at 11:14 AM (Pacific).

      Launch window is open now.

      Drat another 5 minutes hold....
Very cool, I'm clicking away at work, and have this in the background.
I love to watch the launches, thanks for the heads-up!

That's 10 years of my buddies life sitting on top of that rocket. He's aged 2x that in the last month.

Welcome to the space program, there are some problems when you trying to make big things fly and without wings, tomorrow's another day!

I flew to Florida for a Shuttle launch in '90 only to wait it out for a week. It launched a few days after I had to return home.

My day job some times revolves around launch dates or not missing them I should say. One of these days I will get to see something I worked on launch.

It probably feels like a 10 month pregnancy, and ready to deliver NOW!
I hope it all goes smooth as glass.

The company I work for has a $30M contract in place contingent on the success of this launch....nail biting here as well as at Lockheed.

Work on the Shuttle program almost 24 yrs, I've seen it all,

Atlantis is actually called "the Penguin", from March of the Penguins, because it's made so many trips to the pad and back, and never launched, and the funny thing, NASA get mad when the workers call it that,
