Someone parked illegally in a handicap spot, I handled it protouring style

Hard to believe but I'm handicapped at the young age of 31 from Chronic pain from chronic pancreatitis. I have a intrathecal pain implant and everything. Typically I park in normal parking if there's a spot but this particular place always has screwy parking. I draw some interesting looks pulling up in a loud camaro, but you can never judge a book by its cover I guess...

I went to get some coffee and there were no spots available. I noticed this guy parked illegally in the one handicap spot without a placard so I did what comes naturally.

I took my time and took the dog to the dog park and enjoyed my coffee. The manager laughed and told me he'd make sure I didn't get towed.

With a sister-in-law who is profoundly handicapped and wheelchair bound, I think you from the bottom of my heart.

Mine too. I have a friend who is in a wheel chair and has a van with a lift. Seems everywhere we go all the hanicapped spots are taken especially the van accessible ones. For some reason seems like everyone has a placard and 99% don't seem to have anything visibly wrong with them. Best one is a guy jumping out a massively raised up 4x4, that takes off jogging.

Been thinking about having some bumpers stickers made up that read "Stupid, fat and/or ugly isn't a handicap, gtfo of the handicapped spots."

it doesn't seem so hard to be able to get a placard, but OTOH, not everyone's handicap is easily noticed.
some places seem to have TOO many handi-spots, like home depot and lowes! like 8 or 10 spots, and usually only 1 or 2 taken.

You Rock, I totaly support what you did. I recently lost an uncle to cancer that needed to park in handicap spot.He became so week he had to walk with a walker. When it's someone close to you it makes you realize even more the purpose & importance of the handicap parking.

If that was me I don't even think I would be mad because your car is so cool. I'll admit at 2am running to wallyworld or the grochery store I would park in handycap spots but 9 times out of 10 i was one of about 15 cars in the lot and i was in and out in less than 10 min.

Sometimes it's not easy to tell who needs the space and who doesn't. I once saw a guy come out of the store and get into his truck parked in a handicap spot while waiting in the car. I hopped out of my car and asked why he thought it was OK to park in a handicap spot? He looked a little uncomfortable and then said "I have a tag, but I didn't put it on the Mirror". It turns out that he had a health issue that wasn't apparent. I felt like a giant A-hole, but the coolest thing was that he actually said "thanks for looking out for us" and gave me a big smile. I still call people on it once in a while, but I am a little more careful about it.

I have a placard because of a relatively destroyed knee, but I think I've used it twice since I got it. Good lookin out for those who really need it!
