      Tallest & widest 17" tyres

I am realizing that the size options in 17" tyres appears somewhat limited.

Can anyone say what is the tallest 17' tyre and also what is the widest?

The most popular tyre sized in 17" appears to be:

      315 x 35
      285 x 40
      275 x 40

I like the 315 width, but the tyre is a bit short for me. The 285 is OK with height, but a little narrow. A 295 would probably be perfect. Does anyone know of a 17" street tyre in 295 x 35/40/45?

A 305 in 18" is also a good compromise for width and height, but then of course it's not a 17" tyre!!

if you are willing to run a dot drag radial, you have a couple of nice options from mt and m&h.

      M&H drag radial
      390/40 R17
They are a liitle "off" on their 390 sizing but they are big!
29.5 diameter and 14.3 section width.

I don't think you want to turn corners with them, they have a softer sidewall for "the launch".

yes, mt makes a 295/45/17 in the et street radial II that is 27" tall with a modern tread design. it is NOT an ugly, hard compound tire like the sportsman is.

      M&H also makes a 325/40/17 and a 275/50/17 drag radial. both are 28" tall.
