Pontiac G8 coming back as a Chevy!

They aren't giving out the Chevy name for it yet.....

Anyone have a guess what the name will be?...A Chevelle in the works?

Cops will be getting Caprices next year, so my guess is Caprice.

Also developed? This could be interesting.

Never been a huge fan of pontiac styling--a bit over the top for me.

However, The G8 was hands down the coolest looking sedan I have ever laid my eyes on. I fear that when GM transfers the platform to Chevy, it will lose the styling that made it so awesome to begin with.

I'm thinking I may have to get a G8 eventually as a commuter/traveler. We'll see though. I like them and would love to build a blown one. Business wise, I think it's a good car to have in the market. I think it's priced well for what it offers and could make money for GM if they don't uglify it

Chevelle would be a good choice for a name. I highly doubt it, though.

I really don't think it will be a retro name... That would just ask for all the cry babies to come back out again following the GTO debacle.

I agree. If they hadn't called the Monaro a GTO for the US, I think it would have sold far better. Just too much expectation.
Glad to see them using that G8 platform for something in the US though. My G8 is probably the best new car I've ever had.

Is a wagon too much to ask for?

I hope they bring it out soon, so used ones are starting to get cheap when my wife starts complaining about needing a newer car...

I've heard , through the grapevine , that it will be a Caprice ( police package only ).
I don't know if it will hit the consumer market or not.

I'd rather see it as a Chevelle , myself.
But the GM goobers have pointed out that the Caprice was a longer running , more popular car than the Chevelle , and sold more units..

I would buy one if they get the styling right. I really liked the G8 and may have to pick up a used one at some point in time.

The Caprice is the long wheelbase Holden "Statesman", not the regular wheelbase "Commodore". GMH sells the long wheelbase as a police car in the middle east badged as a Caprice - in China, the long wheelbase model is built and badged as a Buick. The short wheelbase Commodore is sold as a Chevrolet Lumina in the middle east and South Africa.

My guess would be that it replaces the current impala, but i hope not, considered the modern incarnation of the word impala invokes thoughts of ghetto tasteless cars(atleast for me)

The only car that's replacing the new Impala is the Impala itself (it is not related to the G8 or Caprice cop car). I could tell you how I know but then I'd have to shoot you in the face.

It is, then it isn't, then it is, then it isn't. I hope it is. I'd like to have one...particularly if the redesign is a little less "Pontiac-ish".
