Pleasanton, Calif - The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association will stage twenty-one dynamic events in 2011. The event lineup features eighteen national events for rods, customs, classics and muscle cars through 1972 vintage as well as three “Get-Together's” in Northern California which welcome all years, American made or powered specialty vehicles.

Anchored by the Goodguys 14th PPG Nationals, July 8-10 in Columbus, OH (the largest event of the year with over 6,000 cars and 500-plus vendors) the schedule features three brand new events led by the 1st Wix Filters Speedway Nationals, September 16-18 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The first event of its kind ever to be held on the hallowed grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will feature over 3,000 rods, customs, classics and muscle cars, plus vendor exhibits, an AutoCross, swap meet, track cruise and much more! The 1st Spring Lone Star Nationals, March 18-20 at Texas Motor Speedway and the 1st Fall Del Mar Nationals, November 25-27 (Thanksgiving weekend) are brand new to the schedule as well.

Notable date changes include the 5th PEAK Chicagoland Nationals which will move from its traditional September date to August 12-14 at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet. The 10th Great Northwestern Nationals in Spokane, Washington has been moved back one week and will be held August 19-21 at the Spokane Co. Fair & Expo Center.

The West Coast Nationals, long considered the “crown jewel” of all Goodguys events due to the quality of vehicles in attendance celebrates its 25th anniversary August 26-28. Special silver anniversary activities will take place throughout the weekend in Pleasanton.

Two popular Friday Night Drag programs featuring sportsman and exhibition cars will be held July 8th at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, OH and on July 22nd and at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA. Goodguys AutoCross action will be held at fifteen of the twenty one events including a full program at the 14th PPG Nationals in Columbus. For more visit www.good-guys.com

NO POCONO EVENT?!?! That sucks, I was looking forward to sneaking my car in and running the autocross. what a shame, there were some really nice cars there this year. Maybe they will consider Englishtown Raceway Park in the future, it seems like GoodGuys avoids the central eastcoast....I guess "The Jersey Shore" scared them off... haha

I'm not entire sure what "Goodguys AutoCross action will be held at fifteen of the twenty one events including a full program at the 14th PPG Nationals in Columbus" means. Kind of depends on what they consider a "full program".
'66 GTO Vert Project "Red Ink", 462ci of stroked pontiac power, TKO600, SC&C Stg II+, Tubular lowers, Currectrac Rear suspension, Moser 12bolt w/Truetrack, Wilwood Master and discs all around, too much fun for words...

In the past the autocross at Columbus has only been for the Street Machine Of The Year contenders. Next year it will be open to everyone.

I realize about the past. That's why I'm interested. It doesn't really come out and detail exactly what Columbus will include. Considering the space constraints I'm wondering what the plan might be. I'm hoping (pretty much everything crossed) that it really will be open to all.

What I was told is that they will be getting another lot on the fairgrounds to autocross in. The autocross in Columbus will be larger than in the past and will be at least Friday and Saturday and open to all participants.

At least that is what I was told.

That would be great! I found it very interesting that may of the Goodguys people themselves this past year were completely unaware that the autocross was restricted to SMOTY entrants in Columbus. I made a point of providing feedback that we'd like the "regular" AutoX offering, and many GG associates were surprised when I mentioned it. For example, at Registration on Thursday nobody there knew that I could not run the AutoX. After I brought it up and they checked (they called around on their radios) they realized that what I was telling them was accurate. Until then, they all thought I was crazy. Hopefully this turns out to be true and they've adjusted.

I dont seem to understand the logic behind some of these Goodguys events not allowing vehicles newer than 1972? I became a member this year and plan to attend the Del Mar events with my 1973 PT Grand Am, but as it states, I am not included in the year cutoff. I feel as though my car is nice enough to attend, as are many other vehicles newer than 1972. As an example, will they say no to Mary Pozzi and her 1973 Camaro?

      .August 12, 13, & 14 for the Joliet show?
Yikes! That blacktop gets warm in September. It's gonna be hot in the middle of that bowl of a racetrack.
No Friday night drags in Joliet for 2011? bummer.
      I'll still be there!

September 16, 17, 18 is usually the weekend of the Four Wheel and Off Road Jamboree at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. If the two events end up there on the same weekend, I'd imagine that town will be pretty crazy.

It can kind of suck, but they have to have some sort of cutoff. If you've been to some of the events you know that they are jam packed. They need some way to establish the "core" group. I think they should just increase every year by one year but that's me. I honestly have no interest whatsoever in seeing a 2009 (or frankly even a 1997 or so) mustang, camaro or corvette at these kind of events. Nothing whatsoever against them at all but that's not what the event and the organization is all about.

Yes, really. At the registration area I asked just to make sure that nothing had changed. Everyone I asked said that the AutoX was always open to anyone. I pointed out that for the other venues that was true, but not at Columbus. They had to get on their radios to verify that yes, AutoX at Columbus was only open to SMOTY. They were all surprised.

I guess I should have been more specific, though. While I've been considered mentally challenged in the past, I meant that maybe they have adjusted to all the requests to open up the AutoX at Columbus to more than just the SMOTY cars.

Yeah, Costa Mesa is no more. I liked the event, and the venue, but from what I've heard, the turnout wasn't great enough to schedule an event there for 2011, which isn't surprising. It was like a ghost town there on Sunday this past year.

We do get another event in Del Mar though

Awww, that's so sad about Costa Mesa. At least we still have the Labor Day event. I guess I'll have to make a road trip up to one of the Del Mar events sometime.

      Can't agree more!

Its time to open up to a few more years! maybe every 5-10 years of the show they allow 2-3 more model years to attend... I understand they have limited space but there are alot of hot rodders that have 73+ cars that are very, very nice... how do you expect to keep the hobby going or expect new creative ideas when you have allowed the same model years for so long? So you mean to tell me a fully restored 1973 Grand AM or Chevelle can't get in, but a 1972 Chevelle with primer spots and rot holes is acceptable (nothing wrong with that, i love rat rods too)? Bump it up to 1975, see what happens... they are missing out on some truely awesome cars. You may even get more attendence at venues.... C'mon I wan't to drive my 73 out to Columbus next year... dont they want my money????!!!
