Thought you guys might like this (PICS)...

I'm not going to lie, sometimes being an automotive journalist has perks. Sunday I was invited up to Monticello Motorsports Park to drive the Gumpert Apollo. It weights 2400 lbs, makes 700 hp, costs $750,000 and tops out at 224 mph. It was an unbelievably hairy ride. Power is from a twin-turbo 4.2 liter Audi V8 with a sequential gearbox. It's by far the twitchiest thing I've ever driven... this car WILL kill you if you're not careful. Fun ride though.

I'd be happy to risk death and drive it if there's a line somewhere to be in. I don't suppose there is any video? 750HP and 2400pds sounds like a party.

The car was involved in the hauler crash on the Wantagh Parkway as it was heading out to Legend Porsche on Long Island, but came away unscathed. It was on the lower level of second trailer. A 1200 hp 911 Turbo and 650 hp 911 Turbo took some damage though.

The best video is the Top Gear Review

Just a note though, if you're over 5' 10" you'll have a tough time fitting in this thing. I turned my 6' 4" 240 lb. body into a pretzel...

Super cool car! I saw one of those at the Red Bull Drifting Championship last year. Fastest car around the Top Gear test track, it must be good!

The Ferrari FXX beat it by almost 7 seconds. But it is still very respectable. I am hosed on ever buying one though. 6'9" and 265 lbs. I would never fit.

In all honesty the panel fitment on the car is pretty bad. Basically they made the most insane car possible and then decided, OH ****!! we need body work...

Haha, a dealer took a Gumpert over one Saturday, and it got stuck on the speed bump going in and had to be rescued. I shouldn't laugh though because I got stuck and stalled out on the very same bump this past weekend..

I dunno about this car though, 700 horsepower, 2400 pounds, and it will still be the looks that kill you, not the speed.

If you didn't like the way it handled you should have adjusted it, virtually every aspect of the suspension on those is adjustable. If you go to far or the wrong direction though, it goes from harry to scary FAST.

but to be fair, the FXX was on slicks and driven by mr. schumacher himself.

in any case, that car must be absurdly fast.
