      Jake '74 Nova

      Howdy,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Jake from Southwest Missouri. I have a 1974 Chevy Nova with 390,000+ miles on the clock. It served as my Dad's and and then my daily driver from the mid 80's until 2006. My dad bought it from the original owners family. The only reason it's not still my daily driver, is that I live so close to work that I don't need to drive daily!

It ran 12.70's @ 106mph in the 1/4 mile with the previous 400 horse 9.6:1 357ci small block. It now has an 11.1:1 385ci small block that should be putting out around 475-500 horse power. Not sure what it will run now, but it feels a lot stronger! Only 130 miles on the new mill so far.

It has a 700r4 tranny with Art Carr 9.5 inch 3500 stall converter and 3.73:1 8.5inch posi rearend. I've gotten a best of 21mpg out of the previous motor, despite running a Holley 750 double pumper. Have yet to check the fuel mileage with the 385 stroker.

I learned to drive in in this rig back in 1988. I've been gradually restoring it over the past 13 years from a bone stock, bench seat 6 cylinder to what you see now.

Here's a pic of the car. There are more in my PTGarage.

nicely done happy nova. I always think the '73-'74 Novas look happy, compared to the '68-'72.
my 2nd car was a '70 that my parents bought new and suffered the indignities that my brother bestowed upon it in the early '80s.

Thanks! It's a late 90s' Pontiac color... Redfire Metallic Pearl.
