We've had a sick household for a week or so, so progress has been slower than I'd like.... as always.

Anyway, I spent an evening and got the steering mostly completed. I just need to get some inner tie rod ends and machine some spacers to locate the rack front to back.

      Bent up the crossmember:

      Welded in the rack mounts:

And got it located in the car:

Then I moved on to the rad support:

And then some bling arrived for the Coyote!

I'm going to be working sheet metal for a while prior to the motor arriving.

Awesome progress Wes -- maybe I missed this in the writeup -- is the Boss intake drastically taller than the standard one? It just looks uber tall un-mounted on the bench there.

      Wes,
Great build and progress. What TIG welder are you using? It looks like I see it in your cart but not sure.

      Thanks, Wes (yes another Wes)

To be honest, I dont know, I'll do a before and after measurement though. I have the motor sitting as low as possible though.

Miller Diversion 165. I'm very happy with it, I've never needed more and I think it performs pretty well, although I havent used a pricey unit to compare it to. The only problem I've had is that at <30 amps my shield sometimes doesnt darken. Obviously not a

Absolutely! (I think/hope) ;-) The belhousing on my T-56 will be the lowest thing on the car with the exception of the crossmember protecting it.

If you look at this picture you can see where the top of the valve covers are on the 4.6 (5.0 is very similar). I'm guessing there's 10+ inches to the underside of the hood. I tried setting the intake on the motor but the 5.0 is wider at the intake so it wont fit.

Oh ya, if anyone wants to buy these wheels/tires they're for sale. They fit stock '67-68 Mustangs very well. Rear need spacers though, depending on your diffy width. I think mine are 3/4" which I'd sell with the wheels.

      8" fronts (9" 96-04 mustang (22 mm offset) narrowed 1")
      245 35r 18 BFG KDW2

      9" Rears, 96-04 Mustang +22 mm offset
      275 40r 18 BFG KDW2

Tires have lots of life in them, have 10,000 miles and 3 autocross events on them.

Looking great. I might be interested in the wheels, assuming shipping from canada to SC wouldn't be insane.

I used those size coolers on my 5.1 (stroked 4.6 4v) supercharged and intercooled Couger. That motor is a fat one so it took a bit of work. Yours looks pretty sweet, should have done all that work (well i really didnt do much of it) but i spent a buttload of cash on Mustang not a freakin Couger!

Sounds good on the intake measurements Wed -- Im interested to know for sure I do recall you setting the motor back but not lowering it -- which of course kicks butt.

      Hey guys

I'm actually going with Forgeline ga3r's but they'll wait until next year. For now I'm going with the same wheels, just 9" and 10" in matt black shod in nt05's. I plan to order this coming week.

Spent some time on the phone with Mark at Wilwood and sorted the brakes and clutch. Pedals and all from them. Mark was great to deal with. Again, I plan to order this week or next.

I missed the Coyote detail too. Very nice. The valley between the heads on the Coyote is pretty deep isn't it? I imagine that will make that intake which seems very tall on the bench seem shorter since part of it will be buried between the heads. Also, the Coyotes I have seen have that big plastic shroud around the intake, so the engine probably looks a lot different without it sitting on top.

If only they were available in 19's. Awesome looking wheel.

About the rad support... Did you have the top bar bent or is it cut/welded?
