      Thanks a bunch!

Ya, there's no need to fully weld a panel like this. Welding th entire piece in adds a ***** pile of work, warpage and provides no real benefit. At the end of the day all of the panels on the car are spot welded together.

Cant wait to install the suspension and get it on the ground!

Well, I’ve got the stainless exhaust hangers welded in as well as the panhard bar crossmember. Man, I’m really hating whatever material they used for the frame rails. Even after cleaning them up with a grinder and looking like fresh metal, they weld just like galvanized. I tried the TIG but couldnt so I moved to the MIG. And even at that I had to spot weld as the fumes generated would muddy up the weld after about 5 seconds. So, I turned up the volume on the welder in order to still get a sturdy weld.

I removed the exhaust manifolds and installed the stainless JBA mid length headers in order to fit the exhaust. Look good and should provide enough room for the steering shaft.

I then cleaned up the gas tank. You can see in the one picture that I’ve found the first bit of rust on this car. A few minutes hand sanding and it was a thing of the past. Threw a quick few coats of Hammer coat on the area that wont get hit with bed liner.

So, I'm ready to lay down the bed liner tonight.

      To Do:
      Paint diffy
      Finish 3rd link
      Fab brake brackets
      Fab lower shock mount spacers
      Put on ground!

With any luck this'll get finished up by the weekend!

      Cheers,

      Wes

Ya, the benches will hold 880 lbs and they fold down out for the way if I need the space.

Power Tour is gonna be great! A couple of buddies are coming along. Oh, my poor liver...

      Morning Gents

Well, I spent another entire weekend in the shop working on the Mustang. I would've had her on the ground if my TIG wouldnt of run out of gas on Sunday....

I got the GW subframe connectors welded in Friday night as well as the first coat of Herculiner bed liner.

Then I spent what seemed like and eternity widdling a couple of shock spacers out of way too big of a chunk of aluminum..... Wow did I make some chips.....

As well as some rod end spacers

I finish painted all of the bits an got most everything installed with the exception of the 3rd link. I ran out of Argon with about 3 inches left to weld....

So, tonight I'll finish up the 3rd link as well as make my rear disc brake mounts. Then on to the front suspension and steering.

I amazed how much work you have gotten done in such a short time. One of my favorite build pages to follow. Very good job!

      Thanks, I really appreciate it!

Ya, I noticed the other day that I've torn the rear of the car apart, sand blasted it, built panels, designed and fabbed an entire rear suspension in just over 3 weeks. Probably 1/2 the time it'd take a lot of shops to install an off the shelf suspension.... I have been fortunate enough to be forced to take carried over holidays though.

I go into work very early (~5:45 am) and get home early (~4:00 pm) and I work in the shop every other minute unless I'm feeding, bathing or playing with my little girl (5:30-7:00 pm) or riding one of my motorcycles. Go to bed at midnight. Repeat. Weekends are a little less rigid as beer and wine can get in the way at times.....

My wife you ask? She has never seen me sit still since she met me so she's used to it.

Hahahaha you are gonna die from the heat. Well at least it is the beginning of June so it might only be in the mid to high 30's C when you get to Mobile. I was hoping on popping over for the last stop or two but my mom is going to be in from Edmonton so I might have to take her with me.

Oh well, I'm from Saskatchewan where it gets to the low 40's so it shouldnt be an issue. Its a dry heat down there right?

I spent an August in Houston in the 90's. Aweful, just aweful....

Not much to update, I've been running around doing errands. I pressed the bearings off the axles last night and ended up not having the correct ones to press back on....

Tonight I picked up an electric fan for the rad. I'm going to wait until after I get my provincial inspection to do that.... Speaking of that, I found out that dumping the exhaust in front of the rear axle wont pass inspection... What a f-ing nightmare its going to be getting the exhaust to the back. It'll be temporary but it'll likely cost a couple a hundred bucks for nothing...

Pulled out the summer wheels for the Magnum tonight too (20" Foose Impressions). Spring is here baby!

Wes what is the condition is the motor in?

Just wondering with all the miles you plan to put on during the tour if the motor is up to it. It seams that all the focus has been in the rear of the Mustang.

Ya, tell me about it. To be honest, I'm sick of the rear end....

I've got a complete gasket kit and will be pulling the motor and tearing it down for the simple reason that it has some leaks and I want to be confident in it. I'll be putting a high flow water pump on it and the rest of the cooling system will be brand new. I intend to put a number of miles on it prior to departure.

The seller tells me its a freshly overhauled motor. Your guess is as good as my as to what that means, hence the tear down.

Well if you are going to be pulling the motor be sure to at least pull the oil pump apart and inspect it. This should tell you if there is any serious problems. Good move on the cooling system upgrade.

Make sure you look at the wiring under the dash. I am on my third 67 Mustang. Be sure to replace out the light switch (which you pull to turn the head lights on) if its original. It tends to heat up when the lights are on and trip the breaker on the switch, then you are driving in the dark.
