After they glued and riveted their widebody-kits (usually coming with an airride system, because function follows form) onto pretty much any other car "Liberty Walk" recently slapped a kit on the Mustang too:

Alternatively, does this count as a widebody?

      That's the Artz-modified Volkswagen Golf 1.
But if you put it alongside another Mark 1, you see that it's not quite stock:

Two were made, back in 1979.
The first one was made when Mister Artz (a German tuner) got his hands on a crashed Porsche 928 and decided to slip the Golf's body over it.
So, basically, the car was cut into a left half and a right one, and then adapted to the Porsche-floorpan and drivetrain, leading to the clearly wider body.
Inside, at least the black one (which I got to take a close look at a few years ago) is 100% Porsche, down to the dash and seats.

The front and the rear view give a different animal. It is night and day compare to a factory Nova body.

Long gone but I had fun with this one I the 70's. It was wicked on wet roads though.

The rule is measure twice and cut once. My problem is I still measure with a mic and cut with an axe!

That looks great! Just exactly like a 69 Firebird! Love the hour-glass shape when photographed from above.
