Size: 228.9 KB I have been lurking around this site for sometime now getting great ideas for my 65 Falcon, so I finally decided to start a build thread. It's really cool to see the other falcons on this site.

Glad to add to the Falcon population, what are your plans for suspension, engine, wheels, etc?

+1 on the wheels. i never liked this body style as compared to the earlier, rounder ones....but since seeing a bunch of them on the forum, they have really grown on me.
i love the profile of the wheel wells on this year. just a great look overall. perfect color, too.

Thanks guy for the kind words, Im planning on using a Mustang 2 styled frontend. I started collecting parts a couple years back to do the swap. Originally I planned on running a blown 408 windsor, but after purchasing my 11 mustang I'm highly considering a new 5.0 coyote motor.

This is the direct fit crossmember I purchased from Helix suspensions, I was very disapointed by what I was sold, even if it had fit with welds like that I would never had used it. The control arms must have came from someone else because they were actually nicely constructed.

^ Does not look very "direct fit", sorry you had to deal with the Helix guys. When I was looking for suspensions they came up, the prices seemed to be too good to be true, now I can see why. My concern would be if it is pulled in that narrow that you will have wheel/tire clearance issues (hit the frame) when turning. If you need any advice from us Falcon guys just ask, we have all gone about our mods in different ways but are always willing to throw in our 2 cents.

      LowFast,
I will really appreciate that, and I'm sure I will need to bother you guys for info.
As for the crossmember I tried to send it back and they refused, instead they sent me another, this time it was to large for my car the box said it was for a 56 f-100. This had been going on over a several week period of them refuseing to except my calls, I had to call useing different lines through there sales line to get ahold of someone other wise the phone was never answered. Lucky for me I called my credit card company at the being of it and they refunded my money and are dealing with it now.
So now Im just going to build my own crossmember

Here's what came up with from suggestions from older brother, he's always trying to push me to build something bigger and badder then I planned, I think thats probably why this the third time I have changed the car since I got it from the junk yard.

So here's what I would like the end result to be close to. My buddy did these off of a cell phone photo so I could see how the car would look with these style of wheels

^ those HREs look fantastic on the car!

Your cross member is looking better than the one you bought that's for sure. Good luck on the build and welcome to the site.

Thanks I like HRE's also. It's just the price that comes with them that's ruff

rednderings looks awesome, you can always get wheels very similar to that instead of buying HREs that cost as much as the car did new.

+1 This. There are lots of options out there with the look and still good quality without the big price. Some guys on here spend more cash on wheel/tire package than I have in my whole project. $4-8k wheels make sense on a 6 figure car, not so much on a low 5 figure ride.

I hear ya guys on the rims, I've been searching online for something close that I can get a custom offset on. I would like to run a 18x11 or 12 in the rear and 18x8 or 9's up front.

I actually gave the one that fits the 56 to my brother, he's starting a 57 ford f-100
