      69 Camaro in the weeds...

So I found a 69 in the weeds in front of a house. I am currently trying to get ahold of the home owner to find out if it is for sale. My question to you folks is, what is it worth? I don't know anything about the motor it appears to be an auto bucket seat car that looks to only be missing the center console. Slight rust around the rear quarters, and some surface rust on the fenders. I didn't see any of the floors or the subframe. It was last inspected and regestered in the late 80's early 90's. I am assuming it has set since then... what should I offer them that won't offend them but won't put me out of the ball park either?

      Thanks for the info...
      Nick

I would first try and see if they are interested. Then I would try and get them to name a price. It could be much lower than you expect and you could walk away with a steal. However they will probably greatly overestimate the value and ask too much. I would say its worth checking out though.

Well that is in the back of my mind, but... I will tell you how I came across the car. I am a cop and had to go to a bunch of houses in the woods and the one with the car looks like it may not be lived in anymore. So my hope is the people are alive and fine, but may need some cash fast. Like I said that is my HOPE, the reality is you are probubly right. Thanks for the post though... I really would just like some ball park figures though.

With no pics it is very hard to say what any car is worth.

When you knock on the door to ask about it, whatever you do never let on that you plan to modify or hot rod the car.

Always say you're going to restore it.

I hate that crap. I know of so many cars that have been rotting in the same spot for 12 years that I know of, probably longer. But of course non of them will sell them.

Well, if you have pics on your cell phone, let's see them. Is the body straight? If it's been sitting for a long time, it probably doesn't run. ...so a non-running 69 shell that's not completely rusted out and has most of its parts...you'd be lowballing them at $5K. If you post a picture it would be easier to give a better estimate.

The SJPD officers are assigned a digital camera and are required to take pictures at every accident and some other instances.

      Good luck with the Camaro.

I think I know what car you're talking about... They don't want to sell it. You don't need to even ask. Don't waste your time...

Sorry guys, I am not smart enough to figure out how to get the pics off of my cell onto the computer, and my department is too damn cheap to buy us all camera's.

I will be sure to keep you all posted if I can STEAL it from them.

If you can send the pic from your phone instead of a number put in your email address, then from there you can save it out of your email and post it here

Keep searching for the owner. Since you are a cop why not just impound the car and if no one claims it then it is yours!
