      Mech. clutch adjustment- please help!

I understand leaving clearance with your foot off the pedal (1/8-1/16") but what about with your foot on the pedal (clutch engaged) I can turn the output shaft with a pair of pliers, in gear, with the clutch engaged but I hear some friction between the clutch disk and flywheel. I am using an 11-inch single disk diaphragm style clutch (spec) with a stock mechanical linkage in a 1st gen camaro. I'm trying to avoid burning up this brand new clutch. I'm using a sfi bellhousing, so it's hard to check travel of the actual throwout bearing. The only measurement I'm able to take is where the mechanical pushrod contacts the fork, if that makes any sense, and that measurement is about 7/8" Thanks.

I think what I'm referring to is sometimes called "air gap". Anybody?
