you'll be miles ahead putting a modern steering box in the car , those cars were never designed to be equiped with a R&P, in fact I would go as far as saying that it could be dangerous, because the racks available were not designed for the loads of older car's steering geometry let alone the loads placed on the steering system from performance driving AND today's tires.

Thanks for the advice, I am upgrading from a ysi to a F2 and need all the extra room I can get that was part of the reason. (A/A intercooler, cranksupport, reverse mount alt., 2" headers...)

Trz motorsports has a direct fit manual rack for A-body that is not much more than some steering boxes?

What steering box would be suggested?

I will assum you are building a pro-touring car?, TRZ makes parts for drag cars, light and very little side load from the front tires, as for a modern steering box we have the GM 600 box available that will give you the clossest feel to a R&P

It is more pro-street but not for drag racing. It is mainly a show car that is driven a couple hours to shows and then if wanted make a pass down the track.

I was wanting the pro-touring members advice plus if any and minus on R&P.

I don't want something that will be dangerous or poor performing.

My steering box is a original and is junk so I want something different.

      Thanks

you could also put in a new manual box.
But if you car is a pro-street with small front tires and your not generating hi lateral loads you could use a R&Pbut you could still run into bump steer issues

Is your gm600 box a direct fit and will it handle a little better?
