      Alright

So here she is after all the quick modifications i did..

Its pretty cold here but i still wanted a nice daily driver with some attitude til the Vengeance is done.

      So i decided to.....

SEMI flat black it with a Stealth Bomber theme.

      Blacked out the ralleys..
and yes i know ones just a steely.. i havent put on the new one yet.. but i got it.

It has a fresh 400 motor from a 73 trans am and i did a small overhaul on it so now its VERY reliable.

      Rebuilt the tranny turbo 400.

Lowered it on a set of Hotchkis springs.

I took my old grille that was on my Camaro and cut it to work with the GTOs front.. the hideaways are DUMB expensive!
still going to get them tho.

I made the stencils by hand and sprayed them.

      and thats it!

Now im going to enjoy it for a while and drive it.. OH and to piss off the purist real badly.

      Its a REAL GTO..

      named project "The Grudge"
      all STREETFIGHTER style.

so keep and eye out for this thread for more.. i got a couple of surprises for you guys too.

      later!

Digging the stealth theme, along w/ the spray on stenciling. Liking that overspray touch on the GTO logo

Cool ride!! Also if you put the stock sweep side stripe back on it in gloss black...maybe???? I think it would look even better.

Some auto museum had the original Punisher car for sale... It gave some great details of the interior and it did have slide down paneling!
Great look to the car so far...

      Thanks!

Im still debating on how i want to go with the suspension.. the new DSE kit or the SC&C kit..

Alot of guys on here have the sc&c and like it pretty good.. but i plan on hitting the track with it and want to get it right the first time.

Also debating throwing in this LS1 a guy has locally.. anyone know of any LS kits for these cars?.. most of my experience is with 1st gens.

I personally would go with the Edelbrock mounts and exhaust headers if not the complete exhaust system. You will need A-Body bb/ss mounts and the tall And narrow mounts. Either 3-1117G/3-1118G from Energy suspension or from Prothane. You can use a CTS-V, F-body or a Canton? oil pan. All the accessories have to match and depending on what intake you might not want to use the truck accessories. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conver...2-gm-body.html

Don't know much about the DSE stuff. I have the SC&C setup including the lower control arms. Here is my impression of my setup:

Lower arms: If you want to lower the car the lower arms will drop it into the weeds especially with a Pontiac motor (heavy). They are set up for a jounce bumper. Great fit. They move the lower ball joint forward to keep the wheel centered in the fender when you run modern caster settings. This will give you clearance at the back of the fender opening where it is the tightest on 68 and 69 GTOs.

Upper arms with pro lite adjusters: fully adjustable and I had to spend some time to get the settings right. You can use the adjusters to set the camber and caster, then use shims to get a track setting. So all you have to do at the track is pop in the shims. Downsides are they are really a race arm - no droop stop and you have to trim the frame a bit for clearance. I plan to fab up some limit straps. The Moog upper ball joints needed some attention to the hole pattern to fit. I measured both the arms (spot on) and the ball joints (0.1 out). They are built to much tighter tolerances than the ball joints!

Spindles and steering arms: ATS for both. With the arms they have no bump steer! Get them with 1/2 inch ARP studs when you order them. I should of done this, now I will be sending mine in to ATS to get them upgraded. They come with metric threads and you need new lugs.

Coil overs: The varishock coil overs needed some tweaking with the springs. Heavy motors really compress the springs that come with these. I swapped the varishock springs for hypercoils to get a stiffer spring. I needed to trim a small bit up in the pocket to make them fit. I took out a piece about 1/8" by 1/8" by 3/4" on the right side only.

Steering box: Lee - works as promised. Nice and tight. The bolts on the box are safety wired!

Sway bar: I have the stock 1" sway bar - it and the pitman arm are the only parts of the original front suspension that is left in the car!

Overall it will require some time and effort to get everything setup and dialed in. Give Mark at SC&C a call. He really knows the A-bodies and can answer any questions you have.

      Hope this helps

      Jon
