Might sound silly but what prep work did you do to the car ?

Did you just wash it, run some pre-paint cleaner on it, and spray it directly from the can ? How many cans did you use ? Did you lay down a primer or was this scuff and shoot over existing paint ?

And the can you posted -its actually satin black not flat black right ? I thought it looked a bit better than just flat black.

The metal looks pretty dang straight under the rattle can.

I plan on doing this to my car for a season to work out the bugs before dropping the dollars, but then I think, well, if you're gonna rattle can it, at least buy a gun and use real paint, but then I feel like if I start buying real paint, then all of sudden I'm kind of in the same boat of well, you have to buy the right reducer, and so on until I may as well do it right !

Actually, I have a lot of bare alum bodywork on the car and several EDP coated panels, and some black gelcoat fiberglass, so really the only thing that needs to be painted is the roof and doors.

I didnt really prep anything.. i sanded it once over with a semi high grit and then shot it outta the can.

the only diffrence between you and me is that i paint things with a can for a living.. so that may be the only difference between your turnout and mine..

now let me say this now.. USE THE SATIN BLACK!!!!!

Its been a few months now and it looks as good as when i first did it.. Any real paint guy would probably roll their eyes at me doing it with a can but ill tell you this.. if they seen it first hand.. they would think i did it with a paintgun.
