Picked up a new daily driver...

To help in my fight for global warming.. lol

I had a '05 GMC Canyon and while it was a great truck it really couldn't tow. I don't need to tow often, mostly I move engines and trannys around, but I do need to move projects on trailers sometimes.

So I shopped around and found a great deal on a GMC Sierra SLE crew cab truck. I was going to buy used but since I got this for $9,000 off sticker I was pretty happy and it had the options I really wanted.

      XM
Auto dual zone AC (for the wife)
Steering wheel audio controls (for me)

and most importantly... The 5.3 V8 with displacement on demand. I wonder if I can do a heads and cam swap? ;)

Also had the towing package, 3.73 gears, auto-lock diff, adjustable power pedals, remote start and all the usual options. The color is Stealth Gray Metallic which has a blue tint to it (it's called Blue Granite on the Chevy side)

The ride is nice and it has great power. The downside is that it didn't have a locking tailgate ($50 option.. stupid that it isn't on a $33k truck). And it doesn't come with the stupid change holder even though theres a space for one (I took the one out of my Canyon). The dash is VERY nice, GM did good.

I need to get the bed sprayed and a locking/folding cover.

      Here's my new workhorse..

haaaa haaaa ....if anyone asks about the gas, do what I do and tell them it runs on plastic!

but serious....you should have waited till the end of the year and you would have got it for way cheaper.

Yea, but I wanted it now.. it was almost 30% off MSRP and my credit union gave me a killer rate.

Besides, I need to tow the track rat around this summer.

I got 22mpg on the highway today with the Active Fuel Management..

No tail wind, but it was in V4 mode. lol

I don't have anything nice enough for an enclosed trailer. I just need to more stuff that doesn't run. I don't own a trailer and I don't mind borrowing one, but I hated to borrow friend's trucks.

Besides, I've never owned a big truck and I bet the govt will outlaw them someday so this is my big chance to "roll large" lol

They are still doing the 0% but I would rather have the rebates. The 0% is great if you are going to keep it the durration of the loan but I burn through cars every 2-3 years since I drive so much.

Killer truck Steve. Can you tell when half the motor shuts down to V4 mode? Or how about when it's running on 4 then kicks on the other 4?

22mpg is pretty solid. Heck I only get 24 out of my Subaru in mixed driving. It does bump up to 28/30 if I'm on I-5 or something.

They are very nice driving trucks. I know how anal you are about keeping a vehicle clean, so you are going to HATE how much lint that seat cloth picks up. lol, our 2007 GMC had the same interior. Keep a lint brush handy ;)

I HATE that about my Tahoe, I had to pick up a lint roller for it, works amazingly and you can pick one up for pretty cheap.
