      LT1 T56 fluid question

Alright so i just ripped off the factory shifter to put in a B&M Ripper shifter. I noticed that the giant rectangle that the shifter sits in is empt with about a teaspoons worth of red fluid ( automatic tranny fluid i think) in the bottom of it.

Is there supposed to be some kind of fluid in their? is is supposed to be dry? what am i supposed to do, do i put in fluid, if so what kind and how much?!?!?!

      thanks guys!

No, your fine - the fluid drains out of that area so you won't see much there.

You put nearly 4 quarts of Dexron 3 in a T56. There is a fill hole on the side. Open that hole and pour from the shifter hole if you have to. Once it starts pouring out the side, you've filled it up. Some people prefer GM Synchromesh for their fluid.
