      richmond 5 speed in a 65 impala?

      anyone done this?
      wondering about floor clearance.
      looks like it will be very tight

      The 5 speed is pretty much the same size as the Muncie. I would think it should work

      It works just fine. I put a Richmond behind my built 409 several years ago for a little more drivability and it bolted right in. Only thing needed was the fabrication of a new crossmember.

      Radlark- Yes it was on the cover of Super Chevy and cover of Chevy High Performance and was also in Street Rod. It is on a full airride technologies system now.

      Hey, sorry for digging up a ten year old thread, but...
      I've got a '66 SS 283/Powerglide, and I'd really like to put a manual trans in, and I'd like to have overdrive. Is the Richmond the only one that'll fit without tunnel mods? Looks like a TKO500/600 requires some cutting, which I'd just as soon avoid if I can.

      The TKO should fit with very minimal cutting. You will need to do a little massaging of the tunnel with a hammer and raise the area where the TKO shifter comes through the tunnel.
