Here's the Cutlass on the Autocross in Madison on Power Tour. Brent Jarvis behind the wheel. Someone has to take pictures...

In Joliet Good Guys this last September...again Brent Jarvis testing the new suspension....

Me actually driving my own car in Joliet. Thanks Chris Jacobs for snapping this one...

Just getting my feet wet on this site. Lots of cool stuff.
Big difference from the first picture of your car to the others.
I'm kind of partial to that third one myself though.

I made my first AutoX since putting Protouring F bodys Springs, Solid Body mounts and Upper control arms on the car.
I was running Kuhmo Esta XS tires in 285/40/17 rear and 275/40/17 front. The course was well laid out for my car, but I was really having a time learning it and keeping the course straight in my thick numb skull.... So I basically blew my first three runs spinning out on my last chance. I just could not find traction. It was spinning the tires really bad on course. The 35 to 40 degree temps did not help. The car was generating good side bite, but I had to be very easy on the gas pedal to keep the rear behind it. In the evening session I made three clean passes each one faster then the last 35,34,and 32 seconds. This put me right in the middle of the rest of the SM novices I was running with that were about 10 seconds faster in the morning. We were all in the 32 second bracket I think. All of them ( fox body Mustangs ) were running what looked like slicks. They did had a single line around the tires I think they were hoosier I figure they were a little better then my Kuhmos. Still my 32.6 was about 7th in class I think out of 10....
I was about a second faster then 2002 Camaro ss in ESP and about 1.5 seconds behind a ZO6 C6 Vette in SS for reference. The fastest car was a modded C6 Zo6. He ran a 25 second lap.

There were a couple of WRX cars in SM that were nearly the fastest thing on the course regardless of class... they ran 27 seconds ( they need to be reclassed imo ) a well modded 2000 TA ran a 29 with a good driver and 35 with a novice.I also took a in car video but need to conver it from the MOV format somehow. I also used my Ipod and Dynolysious software to record G readings and I will include a picture on the graph. The car pulled a max of 1.05 G's average was .92 to .95 Id say. I think with better driving the car can go faster. Wondering to if I need more front bar or if removing the rear bar would make it faster ? 1.25 frt now and .75 rear. I have a old .625 rear bar somewhere I could try too (all stock bars ).
      Thanks

      cool!!

Glad to see you out using your car, it looked good from the pictures I saw. You might want to play around with tire pressures before you change anything else on the car.

If you haven't seen this months Camaro Performers you need to. There is a great article in there by our own Mary Pozzi on auto-xing. A really great primer for 1st timers and some good reminders for the rest of us who have done it a bit, but might be developing some bad habits.

Here are a few of the XR killing cones:

It's a ton of fun every time I go out... the only bummer is that I didn't start auto-x'ing when I was younger. And while track days are probably a better "deal" in terms of track time per dollar, auto-x offers a seriously cheap opportunity to bang on your car with very low potential for mishap.

      Hei,

Your mustang look cool with those wheels.
How wide tires you have rear and front? Are those wheels american racing?

How's your setup doing and have you had a chance to tune it anymore? I have the same setup in my car with the comp springs and all the ptfb frame stiffeners you can purchase. My first autocross will be at the motor state challenge next month.

      Autocross

The San Diego region SCCA has been encouraging pro-touring cars and hopefully there will be a great turnout at their next event Feb 2nd and 3rd.

I'm actually starting to feel like I'm finally getting at least a little bit more competitive at this. Working the bugs out of the car and the driver.

      Too much fun!!
