      What an absolutely BITCHIN' build, I wish I would have found the thread sooner to help keep me motivated on my build.



      I'm at a point where I'm trying to develop/design the radiator/fender mounts, so I'm subscribing to your thread and looking forward to your solutions. At present I'm considering using 3/4" square tubing and building a "trellis-like" structure similar to what they use on Cup cars, but in my mind I keep seeing some hideous outcome where the 3/4" tubing mates up to the frame horns, so any input you and your team have would be most welcome.

      That 335 looks awesome back there.

      What is the vertical difference between the bottom of your third link mount and the top of your framerail dirrectly next to it at the farthes forward point of the mount?

      Hrm, Since most of the load on it is going to be longitudinal, I would probably make a cross member that comes off the angled frame notch at the right height and steps forward to where it needs to meet the upper link mount, that should give you good lateral and longitudinal support, and it shouldn't take enough vertical load that more than a 2x2x.125 tube should be needed.

      Just a thought.

      Any pictures or information you can provide about the custom spindles would be much appreciated. How thick do you think that plate is he is using as the base ? 1" or 3/4" ?

      I would love to see the pictures of that thing as it comes along, Front, back , UBJ, LBJ, hub mounted etc.

      At the moment I can tell you that the front spindle plate is 1" thick. I don't know much more at the moment but will post up when they are finished. I'm hoping that will be soon.

      So becuase I really need to keep that center area open for mufflers... I was thinking of using 3/16ths plate off of the frame rail much like pictured below. What are some thoughts on this?

      Great build. I love Studebakers, and have a couple. I pass right over the Camaro's on here to see the more interesting cars - and yours is looking great!

      Awesome thanks for the encouragement! After my Dad and I have had a few Camaros we realized that while they are certainly killer, it is hard to have one that stands out. So... Studebaker it is! Haha

      Looks good, you may want to Z it internally too, just in case, that's definitely going to be several sheets of cardboard before any steel gets cut, thsoe compound angles are so much fun.

      Okay so while we wait on some parts to come in along with some tubing we decided to mock the dash back in as well as start playing around with some cage layout. Looks like the bars will come down just behind the dash and run right into the frame extensions under the floor for maximum strength. I should be able to get on with the lower link bars and the panhard bar soon.

      I like that dash, with a little tweaking it'll house anything you might want and it's nice and simple and clean looking. I dig the monolithic look though.

      Here is what I have worked up for the dash so far... I laser cut this file already to make a template so I do know that it all fits. I will probably make this piece out of aluminum or something similar..

      Looks good, here is the asymetrical design I made for my car.





      My fasteners and warning, blinker hi-beam lights are all on the same angle as the gauges.

      Okay, working towards finishing the mock up on the rear suspension I was able to get the drivers side trailing arm tacked in place. As always it takes way longer to decide exactly how to do it than it looks. So I have 3 hours wrapped up in this. The other side should go much quicker though. The heim spacers are stainless and I get them from a place named Summit Machine. They seem to mainly focus in the off road market but I really like their spacers. I did have to throw the rear pair into the lathe and face them so they fit into my Welder Series coil over mount.
