best engine/trans combo??
i'm thinking of changing the engine and trans in my car(63 nova s.s. convertible). what do you think is the best engine and trans combo?? i am looking for reliability/drivability with at least 500-600 h.p. i currently run a 454 with a 700r4 trans. do you think a ls series engine and 6 spd. would be a better choice? if so which engine? i have also been thinking about the aluminum big blocks offered by shafiroff and world castings. i have also considered a twin turbo setup. one last note, the motor must have fuel injection. any opinions and insight would be greatly appreciated!!

I would leave it,rebuild the motor might take to a 498 or 509,could change trannys to a 6 speed.you can efi your current engine,edelbrock make's several efi intakes for a bbc and get a FAST system,and it's done.
I run a fast system on 2 of my cars and love it.
A ls7 with a 4l60e would be kind trick,but there's a load of work with the dry sump and computer.
