      New, 70 Cougar Turbocharged

Hi everyone,I can't stop drooling over all of these cars! This is better than the magazines! I have a 70 Cougar that will be built up, Pro-Touring. It is far from finished. I have pics in the PT Garage.
      Here are some specs:
      Turbocharged 5.0 Carbed
      Tremec 3550 5sp
      9" with 3.70s
Stiff suspension that needs lots of work!

      Future plans:
13" front Cobra brakes, 11" rears
      Power rack and pinion
      Triangulated 4 link w/ coilovers
      Front suspension work
      Maybe a 4-6 pt cage
      18's all the way around
Oh yeah and paint. Sonic Blue

      Turbocharged 5.0 430hp 488tq

Closet Cougar fan here. A 69 Eliminator is one of my dream cars. Cool car, love the turbo. Is that a Fox body kit or did you do it custom?

Thanks for the welcome! I fabbed up the turbo kit my self with the help of Turbomustangs.com. I'm running 9psi. If any of you are in need of power, go turbo.

      Nice!

      Welcome!
Turbo setup looks great, ever had it on the dyno?

My buddy has a Bullit Mustang and a SHO, both of which he continually dreams of applying boost to eventually. I will be sure to show him your setup!!

The dyno numbers to the wheels are in my signature. I have ran a 13.00 @ 114mph the way it sits on street tires, and a 2.2 60ft.
Before the turbo I put down 273 hp and 280tq.
I gained 134hp and 190 tq to the wheels with 9psi. Here's my graph.

Welcome! And may I say, very very very cool project! I've been considering going turbo on my Mach, but since I've already got a Paxton sitting around, I think I'll do that first. Still, very very tempting since you appear to have done the design homework.

I'll look forward to your progress.

nice. i'm about to to sell my mustang and i'll be getting a 69 cougar from a buddy of mine. it's a 60,000 mile original car. it needs paint and a front disc swap and i'll be cruising it. i plan on eventually building a long rod 351w roller motor for it and it will be swapping in an aod at that time as well. i used to have a wimbledon white 70 with the black and white houndstooth interior, one of my favorite cars i've ever had, next to mustang.
Do you have a 69 or 70 stang? If so then check out www.69STANG.com

There are various kits out there to use late model Mustang brakes on classic Fords. Steve's Mustang parts is one option.

Wow, another Pro Touring Cougar project
Sounds like a badass project. I like the front of the 70 Cougar even better than my 69.
