      (Another) 67 Camaro project

Well, 10 years (almost to the day), two college degrees, a house, and a wife later, and I'm finally starting on my 67 camaro project.

Plans are for the full DSE treatment (I just ordered the stage 2 kit for the front this morning) front and rear. Some kind of fuel injected motor (non-LS) and a 6 speed, ZR-1 wheels... and that's about all I'm positive of at this point (but I'm convinced you guys will help me spend all my budget and then some ). I'm just happy to be actually working on the stupid thing!

      Wish me luck!

Gotta start somewhere. Make a plan of attack and try to stick with it. Changing things up in the middle of the game costs more time and money. Just installed a DSE front on one of our cars. Make good and sure your frame isnt tweeked in any way because it will throw things off.

      September Update

Ah yeah... well I've got a nice big pile of parts sitting around now. The DSE SK2 is in (very cool), as well as the ATS spindles, touring classics front brakes, AND my wheels finally showed up...

... Which are the most exciting part so far (cause you know... you can't really SEE the other stuff). They're freaking huge! I can't even imagine what these wheels look like that people are putting 335's on, cause these that I'm going to have 315's look like monsters!

Next the subframe is off to the sand blaster so we can start doing some cutting! I can't freaking wait!!

Good luck! Now I don't feel bad either, 26 years! I've been staring at mine for almost 9 years and I'm finally getting to work on it.

You know... that's a good question. I'd like to paint it black with gun metal stripes... but black is such a pain in the arse, I think I'd get pissed at it eventually. Fuel just looks soooo good though!

I've also considered the opposite of that, gun metal with black stripes (ala Eleanor), but that seems pretty popular here lately... so who knows, I'll probably change my mind a few 1000 times. I kind of like that new color thats on some cars these days that kind of looks grey and kind of looks blue... that's cool too...

Dan black is definately a pain, but in the end if the time is taken, there is no prettier color.

10 years I've got 17 years in mine and it's still different colors. Maybe I should change professions then I'd feel like working on it more . But then again I became a body tech cause I like working on cars but for some reason mine never seem to get anywhere

Man... I wish I knew how to do all this crap myself! That's part of my goal of this project though, is to get a better understanding of what is realistic for me to do myself in the future... and what is best left to the pros.

Thanks for the encouragement! I'll keep everyone posted. My goal is to be able to drive it to next years event in Pigeon Forge. Now... it might be three shades of primer... but it's my goal for it to at least be there.

Well I've got a few updates, I just haven't had time to post anything lately. I'm very excited at this point though because I feel like it's really going somewhere...

Here she is all stripped down and ready to go to the shop (with all the goodies packed inside)

The front subframe is finished. I haven't gotten any good shots of it completely assembled yet, but here it is after powder coating... (hopefully I'll be able to take some pictures this weekend with all the DSE equipment installed)

And lastly, I got the back tires mounted and we cut out the rear tubs to try and get a good measurement for the rearend... I snapped some shots of the mock up. (Don't worry Charlie L... it's not going to be red )

After the measurements it's time for all the rear suspension to be ordered as well as the subframe connectors. That should be interesting!

All I can say is that I feel for you guys with 335's out back... cause 315's are stupid expensive... I didn't even look at what it would have been for the bigger ones, but I can imagine.
