New Member-Fairbanks, Alaska - Project Herja (67 Camaro)
Hey, I'm Travis, from Fairbanks, Alaska (Technically I live in North Pole...)
Been a lurker for about a year, figured its about time to start posting and putting up a build thread! (Soon to follow)
I had zero knowledge of any body work, paint, or fabrication work when I first bought this car, but I've always wanted to do a complete restoration and what better project to learn on!
Here is what I started with, not much detail but it seemed pretty straight.
Picked up a 1967 Camaro from a friend of mine, ran and drove. Paid 9k for it. Had a 327 with a Quadrajet carb and a 3 speed auto on the column. Knew from the get go it would be a restomod build, as the engine and transmission both were warranty replacements and I had no paperwork to match it to the car, so may as well make it drive like new since it was a non numbers matching plain jane camaro.
Basic Plans:
LS3 Turbo
Z32 Transmission (from a 300zx, 5 speed manual, holds plenty of power and has adapter kits for LS motors)
Independent rear suspension (I'll post some about in my build thread, but I don't think that what im doing has been done before
Mini Tubs
complete restoration
Whats completed to date:
New Rear Quarter panel (replaced myself in the garage)
New fenders
Mini Tubs (1/2 complete, just need to install the new inner wheel wells and clean up all the welds on the frame)
Complete paint strip and primer
Cleaned up and painted subframe
QA1 upper/lower control arms
QA1 Sway bar
QA1 Coilovers (front)
Wilwood D52 front brakes
Glass/Interior removed
Shaved Drip Rails
Custom A-Pillar ends fabricated up (to match up with the fender line)
Removed/refurbished old fuel tank
Basically have the car stripped down to a shell for the most part, working on fabricating mounts for the new Independent Rear end (hint: its a ford 8.8 from something 2016+)
Hope to inspire others with their builds and hopefully get some pointers from the seasoned vets!
