Question on Jeep steering box on '68 Camaro.

When using the Jeep steering box on a '68 Camaro, is this a direct bolt in or does a adapter have to be made? What are the advantages of using the Jeep box?

It should be a bolt-in, but you need to get a 93-97 Grand Cherokee box and adapters for metric hoses(O-ring vs flare) and the correct coupler( rag joint). The benefit is a faster ratio (12.7-1) and less turns lock to lock. You'll need a power steering pitman arm and possibly a power steering draglink if replacing a manual box. Tons of articles, just Google it for more info. I have one on my 1966 Malibu and it's sweet.

IIRC the Jeep box has a greater range of motion that the Gen 1 F body (which is why it works well in Chevelles) so it might allow tires to kiss the frame before full lock but that is probably something a driver could anticipate and avoid.

even if the steering box had greater turning angle the spindles have physical steering stops so nothing would change, if you need something cheap you also can use a 3rd gen f-body box, z28-T/A they are 12.7 : 1 but the reality is there is nothing like a new 600 series box.
