Can you give your own paint for Maaco to use?

I have my eye set on Satin Black or Semi Gloss Black for my Daily Driver

Let’s say for some reason Maaco doesn’t have it. Can I buy the paint online and bring it to them for them to use?

      Thank uou

Macao's are a franchise. You would have to ask that particular owner if he cares. But...... you do NOT want to give a painter matte/satin black to spray if they have never done it. There is a technique to it, if not done right you will hate the results.

Agreed, I bet the painter there really hasn't done that type of sheen and it can come out horrid.

I agree with the above comments - why not possibly look into a wrap? Might be a safer option.

I agree with above, DO NOT let someone spray a satin or hotrod flatz etc if they haven't done it.

I have 3 friends that have made that mistake, and all of their cars have different sheen panels. ITs super picky to spray. Everything effects it. Humidity, amount of reducer, spray pressures etc.

I have learned from watching mistakes, Any satin needs to be shot all at same time. You can't panel paint and expect an even sheen throughout. good luck

These guys are correct! I've even had problems spraying smaller things.

Thank you everybody for commenting. I was aware that it’s harder to paint a matte/satin color, but holy cow it sounds like it’s extremely hard lol.

As for wrap, that’s upwards of around 2.5-3.5k, and it’s just a bit out of budget at the moment.

Wow I had no idea a wrap cost that much. A guy a know that wraps vehicles and boats part time did his Jeep himself and said the material cost him just under $300. Seems like an awful lot in labor with hardly any overhead

DO NOT USE the cheaper satin blacks. You will be wasting your time. I use PPG global factory pac semi and matte clears, D8115 or D8117, and can panel paint at different times and match sheens. What is harder to do is match texture if painted at different times or by different people.

My bad I didn’t specify, but it’s around 3k if you have it done by a shop. If you do it yourself, you just spend cost of materials which is like $300-500.

The only reason I’d have it done by a shop is because I heard it can be a pain in the ass lol.

Just had my wife's car professionally wrapped a couple of months back. Cost was 2K and he used a 3M film. Just a quick word about satin black. I used to work at the parts counter of a local John Deere dealer and we sold a LOT of John Deere Blitz Black and most of it was sold to local car guys. Blitz Black is arguably the best satin finish paint for the money. Around $30 a gallon.
