      Brake Line Size And Mounting

I am trying to get the rear end finished in the next 10 years or so on my project.

My questions are what size brake lines should I run?

And How should I mount it?

I plan on hard line and a flex at each end. i come from an off road background and we used to weld these rad little stand offs on the rear end (cant find them anywhere). I have notice guys drilling and tapping clamps to the rear end (does this leak?). looking for some thoughts and input.

      thanks

Those 'rad little standoffs' still are my favorite (I'm an off road guy too). A quick google search found these:

And there are plenty of other options out there as well.

      I'd use 3/16" line.

Most of the second Gen F bodies have 3/16 front lines and 1/4 rear.

I'd say the size of the line would be based on design ...I.E what does the manufacturer use or suggest . Then use that . Another possibility is contact Ron Sutton or , Tobin from Kore3

I typically use 3/16" thru out the car. The "new" nickel cad brake lines flare like butter. Solid mounts welded to the rear axle that mate the flex line to the ridged line at the caliper. Solid mount that mates the rear axle flex line to the rear axle "t" fitting. I just make my own brackets out 1/8" flat stock. Get the U clips at NAPA.

I am running discs at all corners. Not sure why the 60-70's brake lines were 1/4". Maybe due to rear drums?

Just buy a builder kit for like $40/50 bucks from Speedway--it should come with pretty much all you need, short of a flaring tool, master(s), and calipers. The line will be 3/16.
