      70 Nova Rear Shock Relocation Possible?

      Good evening, all,

      I have a restored 1970 Nova SS with stock suspension and am looking to make as many modifications as possible to fit big wheels/tires without mini-tubbing (the body is just too mint) in the rear. The car has a 12-bolt, rear drums (but discs down the road), offset shocks, multi-leafs.

      Here is what I currently have in my basement ready for installation:

      ridetech composite leafs (and installation kit)
      ridetech HQ shocks
      Hotchkis rear sway bar

      Has anyone gone with either of these shock relocation kits?

      I have the performance online setup on my 69 and wouldn't recommend it.

      The shocks are ridiculously stiff. The car rides so awful, I'm planning on taking the rear shocks out and just driving with front shocks.

      Up front I have the ridetech Tru-Turn, Hotchkiss springs and Koni adjustable shocks. I can easily press the front end down and it stops bouncing after one, maybe two bounces. The rear, I basically have to jump on to get it to compress, and it still barely moves.

      Do you mean you got the POL setup with their shocks?

      Is it possible that maybe their shocks aren't compatible with your setup/ride-height?

      I would be getting the POL set-up withOUT shocks because I already have ridetech HQ's, which I could potentially exchange if their compression/extension doesn't work with the relocation kit.

      Did everything else with the kit work out? Any other feedback?

      Yeah I'm using the POL shocks. Even out of the car they were hard to compress.

      If you already have better shocks, then it would probably be a LOT better.

      Anyone else used one of these shock relocation kits? The YearOne kit looks pretty solid.

      Relocating your shocks should work fine. As you lay the shocks over, (less vertical) their leverage is reduced, so don't lay them over too far. Other than that, double check the shock mounting stud diameter of the kits to make sure that they match your shocks.

      One thing I notice looking at the Year One set up is that it uses a stud mount on the top side of the shock. A stock style shock wouldn't work. I'm sure there are adapters out there that would just thread on top of the shaft, but just something else to think about.
