      Front caliper on rear

I'm doing a 1972 F100 crown vic suspension on the front and using the 9" on the rear. I have purchased 1979 4 wheel drive front rotors to use on the rear. Those are about 1" thick as are most front rotors. I have a set of calipers from a 96 mustang gt that I want to use on the rear. I will install an adjustable prop valve in the rear line. Is there anything I missing in this setup that will cause less than good results? I see there are aftermarket kits that use the 78 gm metric calipers. They have a 2.5" piston which is what the mustang has. The mustang has more surface area of pad. My assumption is the kits are offered with the metric calipers because of rotor thickness and general availability for a low price. Any thoughts?
