I've been watching this guy's youtube videos for a while and he's a great fabricator, definitely worth giving him a call.

Team, don't go to this guy to install your expensive Detroit Speed parts. He can't follow instructions and I just lost $1500 over it.

That's unfortunate. Nothing worse than someone that thinks they know everything and just does stuff without consulting the instruction manual.

How does this look? I tried to clean it up, can this be visually fixed? He burned through the floor and basically puddled everything.

I'd cut the main hoop with a 7.00 cutoff wheel on a grinder, and ask Detroit speed to send you new plates and start over.
The appearance should bother you, but more should be if penetration was poor thats more of a problem.
For $1500 you were better off buying a mig welder and doing it yourself.
Make sure to use a ratchet strap around the hoop when you cut and weld it in.

Do you have pictures of the rear down bars too?
Did this guy Angel use a 110 welder or a 220volt?

I'm not sure...He said it was a big miller welder when we set up the appointment. He is mobile too if required, but told to come by the shop because his welder wasn't portable.

What do you mean use a ratchet strap?

His welding seems fine. It just sucks that he didn't put things in the right place.

The problem is going to be cutting the down tubes off of the main hoop without messing up the hoop. Obviously the down bars will then be too short as well. Personally if I was going to re-do that I would re-use the plates and replace all the tube. You can use those as guides for bending the new stuff so you don't have to buy it all again.

Right now Detroit Speed is working on a quote for new tubes. I'm very hesitant on who to take it to now for a proper install.

You can grind those down and have someone Tig them instead of Mig. I told John (Team Camaro) about your situation. Good Car Guy to know in Vegas. "Vegas69" is his screen name. Good luck.
