      I hate my exhaust

I have a 68 firebird convertible with 2.5" magnaflow exhaust and an LS2 with hooker headers. The system quality is great, it looks great but the sound sucks. Its too quiet. I didn't cam the engine - it didn't need it but ya I miss the lope. I think the problem is the crossflow muffler. Its supposed to be quiet at idle and open up with pressure but it is way too quiet always. I've driven it a bit over the last two summers but problems with the wiring harness have kept me from really putting miles on it.
Because of the way muffler crosses over, I can't replace it with another muffler that I've been able to find. Is this thing going to open up over time? If I just take it out, can I replace it with an x pipe? What do I do so I can actually enjoy the sound? Is there a muffler I can't find that has the same dimensions and crosses over the same way?
      TIA
      Scott

I had this Flowmaster system on my Camaro years ago and I really liked how it sounded. I don't know if you can buy just the muffler or not, but it might be worth checking out.

No I wish it were that simple. The mufflers don’t have the same in and out design. They both are teansverse but they don’t flow from one side to the other in the same way. The magnaflows go in an x type pattern where the flow masters go straight across.

I have the regular venom 250s, and they are awesome!!
Regularly scares kids, little old ladys and horses...LOL

I bought a Flowmaster 2.5" mandrel bent kit, and changed the mufflers to the BW a year or so later.

Check out Spintech. They have options for in and out in any combo you want, plus if you want loud - they got loud lol. I have the 9000 Super Pro Streets on mine and it sounds sick.

I was hoping for something that could just go in place of the transverse muffler that is there. Dynaflow makes one that looks like it will fit so I may give it a go when I have more cash. Thanks for the replies.

Pypes Exhaust has a great transverse crossflow muffler for your application!

I just wanted a muffler but the gasses would have to travel in an x pattern to make it work. That one doesn’t. I’m going to go with the dynaflow. Thanks for the suggestion though.
