      Wideband for Tuning LS engine

      I couldn’t figure out where to place this question...I’m looking to tune my car and I was told I need a wide band bung in the header. I have no spare slots so I need to add one. I was told it needs to be in the driver side and since it’s for tuning only and a sensor won’t live there, does it matter how it’s clocked?

      The aem wideband that I had had me mount it in a angle for condensation. You need to mount it somewhere between straight up and down and level but not straight up and down or level

      Needs to be above horizontal. As close to the header collector (or in it) as possible. Driver side is only preferred because you can run a shorter wire routing to the gauge, but really you should run it in both so you can confirm fuel trims on both banks. It can also be helpful for diagnostics to be able to compare trims on each side. I'd go ahead and put a bung in for both banks. Tune on one side, then verify the other. Make sure you have no exhaust leaks near the sensor as that will throw the values way off. Don't drive with the sensor in place, if you don't have it powered up. That will reduce sensor life significantly.

      The sensor is not staying. Do I need to worry about condensation? It’s only going to be used by the tuner. It’s either I install a bung or he sticks the probe up thevtail pioe

      Install the bung and once he uses it plug it up till you buy a wideband.

      They aren't very expensive. I would just figure out what brand your tuner prefers and buy one. I wouldn't own an EFI car without one, period.

      Your tuner will appreciate it if the sensor is not mounted below horizontal. They make a living with their tools, and damaging one is quite expensive.
