6l80 in a 2nd gen, anyone done the swap?

Hey guys, Im new to the board and Ive been going at the car hard doing a complete frame off rest with L77 and 6l80. I can't seem to find any good info on the 6l80 and if I can keep from cutting the tunnel out. I just got the body back from body shop and its already cut in and ready to assemble, so Im trying to leave it alone lol. Any info would be appreciated.

Very doubtful you can do it without tunnel mods. Pan road clearance is also going to be an issue.

Thanks Don, thats what Ive read for most. I saw where a couple guys have done it with no modifications. I wondered about adjustable engine mounts like Dirty Dingo or Something and move motor forward a little to clear some taper in the bell area.

Without tunnel mods I think you are going to have an issue with trans pan clearance. Look at the shape of the trans. It is not conical, it it essentially a barrel. Moving it forward really doesn’t buy you much. Take a look at the Speedtech T56 tunnel. It might give you what you need.

If a T56 needs tunnel mods it is a safe bet a 6L80E will too...

Move the engine forward so you dont have to cut the floor? seems like a negative impact on handling.

I dont see how you can get that trans in a 2nd gen at the right drivetrain angle without cutting.

Put one in a 70 camaro, I have a thread up on it now. You will definitely need to cut the tunnel.
