GM Type II Pump Whine - Any Magic Remedies?

I have a Speedway Motors Type II GM pump on my Hemi. It moves the tires fine, but despite my best efforts, I cannot get rid of the pump whine.

      • I have about 1,500 miles on it
      • The fluid in the reservoir does not appear aerated
      • I have an inline filter on the return side
      • Fluid level is correct
      • Borgeson steering box
      • Running Dexron ATF

Any suggestions? I have thought of adding a fitting to the cap and forcing a higher fluid level to see if I can help purge more air out. I've noticed the fluid level is lower than the highest point in the pressure line, but some OEM applications are also that way. It's not the whine of a dying pump that you hear from across the parking lot, but it does not sound right.

I don't know about a magic remedy, but may I suggest some cheese to go with that whine?

I use to have a pump that whined all the time. What fixed it for me was switching to a bigger pulley on the pump. I think I went from a 4" to 6.5" pulley.
