Powdery white crust on Aluminum block

Anyone have a solution to the white powdery crust that seems to occur on aluminum engine parts? Both my cars, one with an LS and one with an aluminum Poncho engine, get this crud on them when they sit. It wipes off but a real pita to keep after.
      Thanks!

Sorry I don't have a solution to this problem but when I read your post I thought this guy is probably in Houston or in another humid area. I scrolled back up and big surprise Richmond TX. If you really want to see some crud look inside your distributer cap lol.

I am pretty sure that the white powder you are talking about is actually aluminum "rust". It's the oxidation of the aluminum caused by the humidity of where you live. You get clear sinuses and rust. Here in Denver we have no rust but jacked up sinus problems!!!

Considered a clear coat but concerned about yellowing form heat. Wonder how Zoops would work on the rough cast surface? For now I’ve been using a small brush but still leaves some discoloration.

There are some Alodine products that convert to a chromate surface some supposed to be clear.

Do you have good grounds ?? I have read some aluminum radiators failing with what you describe because of poor grounds. If I remember correctly, it seems having poor grounds may cause some sort of chemical reaction with aluminum/antifreeze.

So Terry where did the aluminum Poncho come from? Buddy sold one a year ago wondered if it was the same motor.
