Need guidance on drum to discs

Hello, my 70’ Skylark 350 currently has drum brakes and I’m planning on converting them to FRONT disc brakes. With about $1000 in budget for brakes, spindles, calipers, etc, can anyone recommend a bang for the buck upgrade?

      Thank you!

      Edit: 18 inch wheels

So even with 18" wheels a big brake system(13" +) up front with drums out back does not make much sense.

There are factory copy systems like CPP, etc have out there. Scarebird has some other kits. Some with new disc spindles hub/rotors calipers etc.

The B body 1LE 12" rotor tall spindle(B/F body) is another option generally using new upper control arms and possibly a bump steer correction tie rod end.

Give Tobin at Kore3 a call. He may have options that will suit the build well.

LS1 setup front and rear can be done for ~500 bucks. use stock spindles with drum hubs, brackets and rotor/calipers from JY or Ebay.

We're finishing up a 68 LeMans that has budget constraints and 16" torq thrust wheels. We went with SPC upper control arms, tall balljoints, used calipers, and new drilled and slotted rotors, with new pads, Wilwood prop valve, and a C5 master cylinder. Stock rear drums are still in place, and it stops quickly and cleanly with just a tap on the brakes. We really haven't had a chance to evaluate handling, but the reduction in camber change at full droop is encouraging.
