LQ9 Oil Pan, 69 Chevelle, Melling oil pump compatability question

Swapping in an LQ9 (LSX w/e) into my '69. Im using a Melling 10296 oil pump and a GM Muscle Car pan as I read that pan was the way to go for the swap. I read a bit more and came across a thread that said Id need to use a 7qt or greater pan or the Melling could suck it dry? I plan on running an oil cooler (if you have a good mounting location, let me know).

So A) is it try I may suck the pan dry with the 10296? If so then B) which pan is a good pan that will still drop into my car with no x-member mods?

I bought the muscle car pan because it was a good price. I dont have to use it but would like to if I can. Engine is built to 10.8:1 CR, .600 lift cam, 243s with roller tip rockers, etc.

I would not use the gm pan. it will hang way to low. people have broken that pan if your lowered. I would use a mast, holley or champ pan. I have used the holley setup with there motor mounts and everything stays tucked up nice. I have also used a mast pan and it tucks up also. I don't know on the oil pump setup.

Thats good info. The champ pan is only 1/2 quart more. Not sure that would alleviate the issue of the melling sucking it dry?
