140 mig welder handle 1/8 thick steel ?

For all the welders out there, can a mig 140 really weld 1/8 thick steel with good penetration ?? Yeah, the chart states yes, but real world results may be different?

Yes it easily can assuming a decent quality welder.

I've welded 3/16" with decent penetration with my Northern Tool 140. 1/8" no problem at all.

I think with a decent (Hobart, Lincoln, Miller, etc.) it'll go up to 5/16" with gas.

Definitely not a problem, especially so if you chamfer the edges and make the weld a V-groove or bevel instead of a butt weld.

Do you have any idea how long I used my welder with flux core wire....? Too long! Then someone, I think on here, told me to get rid of the flux core and use gas. I did and it was like daylight and dark (after I changed the polarity)
