      "naked" flywheel ???

question regarding a car I just bought
      67 Camaro with a Ramjet 350 and 700R4
in this picture, is that the flywheel exposed?
is that OK? do you think was done that way or something fell off?
should it be covered and if so, with what and how exactly?
is that something any decent tranny shop can do?
      approximate cost?
      thanks

If you are just that particular you can put a new cover on, but it will not affect the function.

might keep some dust out and keeps your fingers out mostly

I had a Chevelle without that cover and backed over a towel (didn't know it was there) pulling out of the garage and it stopped the engine. Took a bit of doing to get it out, so I would put the cover on.

Technically that is a "flex plate" and while a missing cover will not directly effect vehicle operation, it is not safe for it to be exposed like that. There is a cover over it for a reason!
